Bulgaria was founded by tribes of Bulgar nomads who migrated from Central Asia into Europe in the 7th century. Historic remnants of old Bulgaria are present in picturesque little towns like Veliki Preslav, while towns on the Black Sea such as Varna and Burgas make for a great seaside vacation.
Most people think of Varna as a seaside party town packed with casinos and tourists. This may be true, but this historic city, which has been around for over 2000 years, has a lot more to offer. Here’s some of the cool places I uncovered during my trip, including one secret observation point you don’t want to miss!
